French is an official language of the United Nations. In fields such as architecture, fashion, and culinary arts, it often provides a decisive advantage for those looking to rise to the top of their profession. French can also be an advantage in the legal and medical fields. There are many reasons to learn French.

The French Minor at OSU is intended to accommodate interests of students from a variety of majors. In addition to preparing students for graduate/professional programs, the French Minor provides learners with analytical tools for many career fields. Students who pursue the French Minor often pursue majors in mass communication, natural sciences, and engineering.
